For programs: preceptors by state, track and term

NPhours holds a roster of 900+ verified preceptors and places students from 60+ nursing programs. A placement office tells us the track, the state, the term and the handbook's rules; we return the preceptors on the roster who meet them, under your own affiliation agreement template.

What a program receives

For each track and state you name, a list of roster preceptors whose license, certification, years of practice and setting satisfy your handbook, each already holding a CV, license copy and certification on file. For each student you place, a named coordinator who monitors the log against the calendar, chases the midpoint and final evaluations, and calls you before a small problem becomes a failed rotation.

Agreements are drafted in your template, not ours, and signed by the preceptor's practice. Where your institution already holds an agreement with a practice on the roster, it is used as is. Your permitted-mode rule for each course is recorded on every card, so a preceptor cannot accept a student for a share of video hours your handbook does not allow.

What programs pay

The preceptor's fee, which the preceptor sets between $12 and $20 per student hour, plus a placement fee quoted per student and per term. The quote depends on the track, the state and the notice given. Programs placing a cohort receive one quote for the cohort and one invoice a term. Nothing is invoiced for a student who is not placed.

What NPhours will not do for a program

  • Place a student with a preceptor whose credential your handbook does not accept, however willing the preceptor is.
  • Report hours the student's log does not show.
  • Sign your agreement on a practice's behalf.
  • Promise a preceptor in a state where the roster is thin without saying so first.
